Into Scouting and Ham Radio ?

Jota-joit 2024Are you into Scouting and Ham Radio?

I came across the following on the Radio Scouting UK Facebook Feed and though it would be of interest to others.

A group of enthusiastic Dutch Scouts who are interested in Ham radio (aka Amateur Radio) have started a website to improve the flow of information about Scouting Amateur Radio Activities. The website is in Dutch, however their aim is to bring together as much information as possible in one place.

The information then are providing on site so far is:

  • about Radio Scouting competitions
  • about Dutch Radio Scouting Awards
  • the rules about the above awards
  • Information of Special Event Station (Dutch)
  • info about foreign Radio Scouting Activities
  • Other Radio Scouting Awards

They also offer a email opt in for Radio Scouting Activities every month

There website can be found at https://worldscoutscontest.com/

A quick over view of the Dutch site is as follows.

The CQ World Scouts Contest is an annual event organized for and by scouts, aimed at promoting the radio hobby and fostering communication between amateur radio operators and scouts globally. Originating in Brazil, it is recognized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and held halfway between two JOTA-JOTI events, which are major scout radio communication events. The contest encourages scouts to engage with amateur radio for 24 hours, although participants can join for shorter periods. It has been running for over a decade and aims to strengthen connections within the scouting community.

For more information, you can visit CQ World Scouts Contest.

JOTA (Jamboree-on-the-Air) and JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Internet) are global events organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) that allow scouts worldwide to connect via amateur radio and the internet. Taking place annually, JOTA/JOTI fosters international friendships, cultural exchange, and the development of communication skills. In 2024, the event will provide scouts with opportunities to engage in radio communications, live chats, and virtual activities, promoting teamwork, learning, and the spirit of scouting. The event serves as an inclusive platform where scouts of all ages can participate.
