THRYBERGH COUNTRY PARK

If you are a member or a regular reader, you will be aware that we meet at Thrybergh Country Park, Near Rotherham in South Yorkshire on a Wednesday Morning, usually between 09:30 and 12:00. Most week (weather permitting) we also try and activate the Park as a Parks on the Air (POTA) activation using the Clubs call G4SKM

We could really do with a CW operator to Join us.

It does not matter if you are a member of the Radio Society or not, you are very welcome to come and join us. If you are interested in Radio not just Amateur Radio, we would love to see you.

We do monitor 145:500 as well from the Park although conditions are not always the best on 2m from this location.

POTA

Parks on the Air (POTA) is a popular amateur radio activity in the UK, where operators set up portable radio stations in national parks, nature reserves, and other protected areas. The goal is to promote awareness of these natural spaces while encouraging radio enthusiasts to engage in outdoor operations. Participants, known as “activators,” transmit from the parks, while “hunters” aim to make contact with them. POTA promotes both conservation and the enjoyment of amateur radio, offering a fun and educational way for radio operators to practice their skills in diverse environments while connecting with people around the world.
